Look Blog Competition Entry

Hello Look magazine and hello readers!

I decided to do a last minute entry to the contest that Look magazine are running until midnight tonight (15th August 2011). Being a recent graduate I am used to having to burn the midnight oil in order to meet deadlines, so figured it was worth a shot! Essentially, I have to write this post to tell Look, and you fine people reading this, why I feel that I deserve tickets to the Look fashion show front row, so that I can blog about it. This is going to be a long one I'm afraid, so maybe grab a cup of tea/coffee or a Vita Coco for the health conscious among you.

Where do I begin? I have been blogging for a while now, but only recently have I begun to take it seriously. This is because I've been studying incredibly hard for a history degree, graduating in July 2011 within the top ten students in my faculty at Bangor University. However despite my achievements, I am still unemployed and desperate to do a job that I love. At the moment my blog and YouTube channels are the only things keeping me sane as I get to involve myself in a world I would love to be a part of.

I've loved fashion and make up since time immemorial and I love writing and speaking to people, therefore blogging and YouTube seemed like an obvious step. I feel that I could, given the opportunity, make a good blogger. Winning the prize would allow me to reach more people as I have a lot of positive things to say. As an example, I recently posted a piece entitled 'Pale is Interesting' as a retort to all of those people who demand that to be beautiful, you must be tanned. Like Look, I also want to support plus-size models and help women to dress for their size as not everyone can fit into the tiny sample sizes that most designers produce, least of all me.

The outfits I put together might not always work, but what I do have is a passion for fashion and I love that my clothes can reflect my mood. Look focuses mostly on affordable fashion and you would only need to look at any of my Outfit of the Day posts to see how much I love the High Street. My argument is that you can look smart and 'put together' without it costing you the earth. Don't get me wrong, I love designer labels, I just can't afford them being unemployed; for my fix I turn to Look magazine, my eyes lingering on the pieces, then moving on to the things I could actually hope to add to my wardrobe.

I am, without a doubt, a Look girl and have been subscribed to it for a while now. Not only would I appreciate being at the show, but I would blog about it from the perspective of a woman that suffers with the dreaded and legendary "bingo-wings", as well as the notorious "wobbly tummy", as I went from a size 22 to a 12/14 four years ago. As a result of this I understand the need that some women have to disguise areas which they wish to keep hidden from view and that not everyone can get away with a crop top, even with a top underneath, as you have such a short and dumpy torso! (I can hear violins playing, can you? This post may be akin to an X Factor sob story, which isn't intended at all!)

In conclusion; I am desperate! Also, please help give my life some direction whilst I find a job to fund my Master's or a make up course, as I would love to either retrain entirely and work on Look shoots one day, or become a career historian! I would appreciate the opportunity more than this blog post probably puts across. Thanks for reading if you made it this far! Look magazine, keep up the good work!
