Grasping Summer

Warning: this outfit of the day post features sunshine and a summer maxi dress...in September! It felt odd to have such a hot and glorious day at this time of year, but you will hear no complaints from me. I decided to share this outfit with you, mainly because a sweet elderly lady stopped me in Waterstone's Llandudno to say that she thought I looked beautiful, which made my day! So, below are the pictures. Enjoy!

Dress: Matalan | Bracelet's: Accessorize | Rings: Cut Out and Keep | Flip Flops: Matalan | Hair Flower: Claire's Accessories | Handbag: Matalan

  1. You look lovely Nicole.
Two questions: 1) How did you get a maxi dress that fits. Every single dress I've tried has been too long/ just didn't sit properly. I really want to wear them in summer but cannot find a suitable dress for my figure/height.
And 2) How long did you spend painting your nails? I love them!

    1. Thanks :)

      1. Sometimes the fit and length is just luck. However, I look for styles that can be shortened. This dress was shortened by moving the frill at the bottom upwards. I had to size-up for my bust so it's loose around the waist and as that couldn't be altered easily, I just make do. Essentially I try loads of styles to see what fits. I find the style that has a band around the waist/under the bust looks okay if it is a little loose there as I've had to size up for my bust. The length can always be altered.

      2. I would say roughly an hour, but that's purely as I was leaving plenty of time for the two coats of white base to finish drying. The design itself took about twenty minutes maximum for both hands - probably less.

    1. Thanks! :) I'm trying really hard to take care of my skin, but it's hard when I have zero incoming funds. All I have on my skin is Look Beauty Flawless Fix Beauty Balm, Collection concealer and a little translucent powder over my t-zone x
